Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
Pickt lets parents choose exactly which videos and websites their children can open. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: privacy@pickt.tv.
Who uses Pickt
Accounts belong to adults. A parent or guardian creates the account, adds children as profiles, and controls everything those profiles can do. Children never create accounts, never sign in, and never give us their email address or contact details.
What we collect
- Grown-up account: your email address and name, and, if you sign in with Google, Apple, X, Facebook, or Microsoft, the basic profile that provider shares (name, email, profile picture). We never receive your password for those services.
- Child profiles: a first name or nickname, an optional age, the settings you choose (time limits, watching hours, protection mode, blocked words), and a profile color.
- Approved and blocked lists: the links you add, with their public titles and preview images.
- Activity on a child's profile: the pages and videos opened (address, title, time spent), watching time per day, and requests your child sends to you. This lets you see what was watched and enforce your limits.
- Devices: push-notification tokens for grown-ups' phones and an identifier for each computer you pair with the Pickt browser extension.
- Billing: handled by Stripe. We store your subscription status, not your card number.
How we use it
Only to run Pickt for your family: enforcing your lists and limits, showing you history and requests, sending the alerts and weekly summary you turn on, keeping the service secure, and billing. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or build advertising profiles, and we never use children's information for marketing.
Who we share it with
Service providers that process data for us under contract, only as needed to run Pickt:
- Supabase (database and sign-in) and Vercel (website hosting).
- Stripe (payments).
- Expo (delivering push notifications) and Resend (sending email).
- Anthropic, only if you turn on AI Shield: we send the title, channel or site name, and description of a page, plus the child's age (never the name), so the AI can judge it against your guidance.
- The sign-in provider you choose, to confirm who you are.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the safety of a child or the service.
Other sites
When your child opens an approved video or website, it loads from that site (for example YouTube or Vimeo), which receives the visit under its own privacy policy. Pickt does not add tracking to those pages.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
Pickt is a tool for parents. We collect information about a child only from the parent or guardian who set up the profile and from the child's use of the profile the parent controls. A parent can review, change, or delete a child's profile and history at any time in the dashboard, or ask us to by writing to privacy@pickt.tv.
How long we keep it
Watch history is deleted automatically after 90 days. Everything else is kept while your account is open. When you delete a child's profile or your account, the related information is deleted from our systems, and from backups within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, each family can reach only its own records, and the PIN that unlocks kid mode is stored only as a one-way hash with lockout after repeated wrong guesses. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
Your choices and rights
- See, correct, export, or delete your family's information from the dashboard or by emailing us.
- Turn alerts, the weekly email, and AI Shield on or off at any time.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
